How We Write Our Guides

Every guide on this site is researched from primary sources: the NDIA's SDA guideline and pricing arrangements, the NDIS SDA Rules, the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and state agencies. We link to the sources on each page, show the date it was last checked, and correct mistakes quickly.

The Sources We Use

  • The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), including Our Guideline on specialist disability accommodation, the SDA pages on the NDIS website and the SDA Finder
  • The NDIS Pricing Arrangements for Specialist Disability Accommodation, and the SDA Design Standard
  • The NDIS (Specialist Disability Accommodation) Rules 2020 on the Federal Register of Legislation
  • The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, including the Practice Standards for SDA providers
  • State and territory agencies, for tenancy rules that apply to SDA residents

We don't rely on providers' blogs or forum posts for facts. If we can't confirm something in a primary source, we leave it out.

How We Keep Guides up to Date

SDA prices are set each financial year, and the rent cap changes when the Disability Support Pension does. Rather than print figures that go stale, we explain how they're worked out and link to the current numbers. Each page shows when it was last checked, and we check again when the NDIA publishes new guidance or pricing.

Our Independence

Providers pay us for introductions. They don't write our guides, pay to be mentioned in them, or see them before they're published. Our guides are general information, not advice about your plan or a particular home.

Found a Mistake?

Please tell us. Email hello@sdaaccommodation.com.au with the page and what needs fixing. We'll check it against the source and update the page. You can also read about us and how the service works.
